Easy Knit Dishcloth

(Mom says that, although she didn’t create this pattern, it’s an age-old, friendly little pattern. You can find it almost everywhere on the Internet. We are not claiming to have originated this pattern.)

Materials: Sugar and Cream or similar cotton yarn; Size 8 needles (US)

Instructions:

Cast on 4 stitches

Row 1: Knit 4

Row 2: Knit 2, yarn over, knit across the row.

Repeat Row 2 until you have 44 stitches on the needle.

Next Row: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit to the end of the row. Repeat this row until you have 4 stitches on the needle.

Last row: Knit 4

Bind off.

Of course, you can knit this pattern in any color; you could do a set of seasonal themed ones (Christmas or patriotic), or match a friend’s kitchen color scheme.

If you like the idea of giving the dishcloths more than knitting them, please check out our shop on Etsy, where we sell many household gifts and things.    The Country Bluebird
