Last autumn, while Mom and I were perusing the clearance area at the fabric store, we found a lovely piece of purple and brown chevron material. It was a polyester-spandex blend, and we thought it would be just the thing for a maxi skirt! We knew what tutorial we wanted to use: this one from the Winthrop Chronicles blog. We were a little bit short on the amount of chevron material, so Mom found a cream colored piece from very similar material to use as the waistband. We didn’t want to use an elastic waistband. After taking measurements and making some adjustments to the overall fit of the skirt, we got this!
I really like the contrast that the denim jacket gives the soft, draping skirt. I added a pair of brown boots to complete the look, although you can’t see them in the photo.
Do you love maxi skirts as much as we do? Have you ever made one?
