This morning Kerstin and Elisabeth went strawberry picking. They picked two sixteen pound flats! We decided to slice and freeze these ones and make jam another day.
We all took turns washing, hulling, and slicing.
Our hands were pretty stiff from holding the knives!
We filled a large Longaberger bowl half full with sliced strawberries, and then we added about 1 cup of sugar. The sugar helps the strawberries maintain the color and shape 🙂
We filled twenty six 1 1/2 pint containers…about 78 cups worth of sliced strawberries!
After we filled all our containers, we still had strawberries leftover, so we made strawberry shortcake for supper! Well, we had scrambled eggs with it…but the strawberry shortcake was the main course 😉
