Strawberry Jam


Last Wednesday we girls went strawberry picking again! We picked two flats of berries, one for ourselves to make strawberry jam and the other to give to our sweet piano teacher.



When we brought them home, our little kitty inspected the strawberries. I wonder what she’s thinking!



We washed the berries and drained them in our pretty red colander.



Then we hulled the berries and chopped them in our Quick Chef.



We used the Sure-Jell recipe for strawberry freezer jam. It’s our favorite!



In the midst of the process.



We poured the bright red jam into plastic freezer containers, and labeled them with fun pieces of tape.



Altogether we made six batches of jam, for a total of thirty-four containers.



Look at how pretty that jam is! Although this might not be enough to last us until next strawberry season, we will be supplementing it with raspberry jam in a few weeks using raspberries from our own bushes.
