Disking the Garden

IMG_0704

Earlier this week, Nate disked up our vegetable garden so it will be easier to work in next spring. In years past, every spring when Dad worked up the garden, it would grow by a few feet on each side. Eventually we decided that it was too much, so we gave some space back to the hay field and some back to the yard. Now our garden is quite manageable, but for some reason we still use our biggest tractor for the task! 🙂

The End of October

A “backwards” view of the sunset. I think the view to the east was just as beautiful as the western view on the evening that we took this photo!

Soybean Harvest

IMG_0012

After several days of beautiful weather, Dad and Nate started harvesting soybeans this morning! They have had to make some adjustments with the new grain head, but we’re hoping that the harvest continues to go well.

September’s Full Moon

DSCN0217

Monday night, after the sun had set and just as the air was growing cool, the moon began to rise. It was a brilliant red-orange color, and the sight of it was awe-inspiring. There is something so wonderful about watching the moon rise. Sunrises and sunsets are lovely, and it’s fun to see the stars appear against the velvety black sky at night, but moon-rises are my delight!

Here are some photos of the moon-rising.

Somehow it looked so much bigger in real life than it does in the photos.

Foggy Winter Morning

Image

One winter morning when the temperature was warmer than usual, we awoke to a magical foggy world. By the time we thought to take some photos of our misty surroundings, most of the fog had cleared, but there was enough to soften everything in the distance.

A couple days later we enjoyed this gorgeous sunset. Just look at those cotton candy pink clouds!!
